How HTTP is Utilized in Lync ServerNearly all communications between Lync clients and the Lync Server web services are maintained over port 443, yet there are a few instances when HTTP traffic over Port 80 is utilized.  Thus depending on the scenario if any traffic over this port is not allowed to or from the server then some functionality may be limited.Internal ServersThe Ports and Protocols for Internal Servers documentation lists Port 80 as a requirement in two places: Front End Servers and Directors, with a description including when HTTPS is not used. OK, but when is HTTPS not used. And why?Lync Phone Edition Certificate DownloadTraditionally all internal Lync servers would be issued an SSL certificate from a Windows Enterprise Certificate Authority which automatically embedded the root and any issuing subordinate CA certificates into Active Directory.  Thus all domain connected Windows workstations would transitively trust the private certificate authority, and the Lync client running on those computers would be able to connect to the Lync servers over TLS without issue.  In the event that a trusted third party public certificate was issued to the internal Lync servers then the Windows client would typically trust those by default assuming that the CA is one of the pre-installed trusts in the Windows operating system certificate store. But what about Lync Phone Edition devices?  These are not domain-joined and although they do support a host of pre-installed public certificates which would allow them to connect to Edge or internal servers utilizing public certificates, how do they function in an internal scenario with private certificates?Since the introduction of the Phone Edition client with the original Tanjay device the client has been able to automatically download the complete root certificate chain directly from a Front-End or Director Server (OCS or Lync).  This download is actually facilitated over HTTP (port 80 by default) as until the root certificate is downloaded the client cannot establish a secure connection over HTTPS (port 443 by default) with the server. Also be aware that this behavior is not limited to Lync Phone Edition devices are other Lync Qualified devices (e.g.

For the past decade, schools, parents and students have clashed over the issue of regulating student attire. In 2007, cases involving an anti-Bush T-shirt in Vermont, an anti-gay T-shirt in San Diego, and Tigger socks in Napa, California, made their way through the courts, causing many to wonder whether this debate will ever be resolved.Meanwhile, researchers are divided over how much of an impact — if any — dress policies have upon student learning. A 2004 book makes the case that uniforms do not improve school safety or academic discipline.

/ Updated  / Source: NBC NewsBy Claudio LavangaROME — A fake front page of the Vatican’s official newspaper was sent to cardinals and bishops by an anonymous source this week as part of what appears to be an ongoing campaign to undermine Pope Francis. The page, obtained by NBC News, purports to be the front of the Osservatore Romano and contains a spoof interview with the 80-year-old pontiff under the headline in Italian, “He answered!”In the imaginary interview, the pope addresses a controversial request from four cardinals to clarify his position on whether divorced and remarried Catholics can receive Holy Communion. The pope supposedly answers “yes and no” to the same question — casting doubt over whether he has a clear view on the issue.Last year, four prominent cardinals wrote to Francis requesting clarification on his teachings on family and moral issues. The cardinals took the unusual step of making their request public, as the pope did not reply. The fake news story comes a week after walls around Rome were festooned with illegal posters criticizing some of the pope’s recent actions.Related: Mysterious Posters Take Jab at Pope as Conservative Criticism IntensifiesThe posters showed an image of a stern-looking Francis above the question: "Eh, Francis, you've commissioned congregations, removed priests, decapitated the Order of Malta and the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate, you've ignored cardinals ...

Seppuku, also known less formally as harakiri, is a form of ritual suicide that was practiced by the samurai and daimyo of Japan. It usually involved cutting the abdomen open with a short sword, which was believed to immediately release the samurai's spirit to the afterlife. In many cases, a friend or servant would serve as a second, and would ritually decapitate the samurai to provide release from the terrible pain of the abdominal cuts. The second needed to be very skillful with his sword to achieve the perfect decapitation, known as kaishaku, or "embraced head." The trick was to leave a small flap of skin attached at the front of the neck so that the head would fall forward and look like it was being cradled by the dead samurai's arms. Seppuku's Purpose Samurai committed seppuku for a number of reasons, in accordance with bushido, the samurai code of conduct.

Core Principles of Development Can Help Us Redesign Policy and PracticeRecent advances in the science of brain development offer us an unprecedented opportunity to solve some of society’s most challenging problems, from widening disparities in school achievement and economic productivity to costly health problems across the lifespan. Understanding how the experiences children have starting at birth, even prenatally, affect lifelong outcomes—combined with new knowledge about the core capabilities adults need to thrive as parents and in the workplace—provides a strong foundation upon which policymakers and civic leaders can design a shared and more effective agenda. The science of child development and the core capabilities of adults point to a set of “design principles” that policymakers and practitioners in many different sectors can use to improve outcomes for children and families.

Imperialism was one of the four contributing factors to the cause of World War One, along with secret alliances, militarism, and nationalism.  It is the most important cause of WW1, because it created a build-up of tension in Europe and outside of Europe, and through imperialism, the three other causes were able to affect the beginnings of the war. Imperialism is defined as the governing of one people by another country, which was a recurring dilemma prior to WW1 due to the industrialist movement. Although not all events that fall into the imperialistic category were about controlling another country, they contributed to the war, and imperialistic events were the foundation of the cause of WW1.Within Europe, imperialism occurred at the height of industrialization.

The First Imperial Period Much of what came to constitute China Proper was unified for the first time in 221 B.C. In that year the western frontier state of Qin, the most aggressive of the Warring States, subjugated the last of its rival states. (Qin in Wade-Giles romanization is Ch'in, from which the English China probably derived.) Once the king of Qin consolidated his power, he took the title Shi Huangdi (First Emperor), a formulation previously reserved for deities and the mythological sage-emperors, and imposed Qin's centralized, nonhereditary bureaucratic system on his new empire.

Christian TattoosBecause some of us still tend to associate tattoos with a disreputable kind of people, it may surprise them to realize that Christian tattoos are extremely popular. Yes, Christians do get tattoos, and for many of them Christian tattoos represent a unique and personal way of keeping Christian iconography and religious imagery close at hand.Unlike the Jewish faith, Christianity does not have any rule against tattooing, except to caution young people to be modest with regard to the image they embody in the world. So, as long as it is tasteful and appropriate, a Christian tattoo is a powerful symbol that resonates with a lot of Christian youth.

"But those gardens made up of letters, it is by way of play, it seems, that he will sow and write them; and each time he writes, building up a treasure of recollection against the forgetfulness of old age, for him if he ever reaches it, and for all those who follow in his footsteps, he will find pleasure in watching the growth of these tender shoots. And when other men will indulge in other kinds of plays, drinking-parties and the like, he, on the contrary, will likely spend his time playing the way I said. Knowing how to address a cover letter can be frustrating when that information isn't readily available. Many times, there are steps you can take to figure out who exactly the person reading your letter will be.But in an absolute pinch, certain ways of addressing your cover letter are more off-putting than others. Some of the worst ways to address a cover letter include "Dear HR professional" and a simple "Hi!"Dear Reader,We know it's frustrating when a job posting doesn't include the name of the person in charge of the hiring process. We also know that's not an excuse to slap any salutation on your cover letter and send your application off.According to Amanda Augustine, career advice expert for TopResume, you should always do some research to figure out who exactly the person reading your letter will be.You can even play it safe by writing at the beginning of your cover letter: "I noticed you're working in [whatever department] at [whatever company]," so you show that based on your research, it looks like they're involved in the hiring process. In the case that you absolutely, positively can't find a person's name, Augustine said certain ways of addressing your cover letter are more off-putting than others. For example, "Dear Hiring Manager" and "Dear Recruiter" aren't great openings, but they're the best of many bad options. Here's the full list of cover-letter openings, ranked in reverse order of egregiousness.Sincerely,Business Insider staffP.S. This advice doesn't apply in the case of an anonymous job posting, when a company is deliberately keeping their name and the names of their employees confidential. View As: One PageSlides5. 'Dear Hiring Manager' or 'Dear Recruiter'Justin Sullivan/Getty ImagesThe language in your cover letter should be at once professional and conversational, Augustine said.

Inventive Step - Part III on Non-ObviousnessIsn't it the same as non-obviousness?The expression "inventive step" is predominantly used by our European brethren, both in individual states like the UK or Germany as well as the European Patent Office (EPO). And yes, it means almost the same thing as non-obviousness as used in the US Patent Office.Although the basic principle is roughly the same, the assessment of the inventive step and non-obviousness varies from one country to another. For instance, the practice of the European Patent Office (EPO) differs from the practice in the United Kingdom.Although the differences are slight it is worthwhile to examine them for learning.European Patent OfficeThe EPO states (Article 52 and Article 56) that European patents shall be granted for inventions that involve an inventive step, that is, the invention, having regard to the state of the art, must not be obvious to a person skilled in the art.The Examining Divisions, the Opposition Divisions, and the Boards of Appeal of the EPO almost always apply the "problem-solution approach" in order to decide whether an invention involves an inventive step.

The US falls 13 places in the UN's human development index (HDI) once inequality is taken into account – while Afghanistan, Timor-Leste, Burma and seven sub-Saharan African countries make up the 10 states with the fastest average growth in human development over the past 12 years. The latest figures and rankings – released in the UN's 2013 human development report from the UN Development Programme – include life expectancy, education and income. Norway once again comes out top, with Burkina Faso, Chad, Mozambique, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Niger propping up the bottom. But the report also includes a table on trends in the HDI over the past three decades – which makes more favourable reading for poorer African nations. After languishing at the back of the pack throughout the 1980s and 90s, sub-Saharan Africa was second only to south Asia in terms of annual average HDI growth in the 2000s (1.47% v 1.6%) – and outstripped the Arab states (1.07%), east Asia (1.43%), Europe and central Asia (0.77%), and Latin America (0.74%).And although Niger has the lowest human development score in the world, it had the 10th fastest average human development growth between 2000 and 2012 (2.2%), behind Afghanistan (3.91%), Sierra Leone (3.29%), Ethiopia (3.09%), Rwanda (2.73%), Timor-Leste (2.71%), Angola (2.56%), Mozambique (2.37%), Burundi (2.31%) and Burma (2.23%). The map above shows average annual HDI growth (%) between 2000 and 2012. Yemen scores lowest on the GII, followed by Afghanistan, Niger, Saudi Arabia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.Download the data• DATA: download the full spreadsheet• SOURCE:UNDP human development report 2013NEW.

"Gun Control’s" Nazi ConnectionStartling evidence suggests that the Gun Control Act of 1968 was lifted, almost in its entirety, from Nazi legislation.Reference the English translation (plus a link to the original (copy) in German.)Currently there are a very few copies remaining - once these are gone it is not certain when a reprint will be available.Currently there are a very few copies remaining - once these are gone it is not certain when a reprint will be available.(See some details and image scan of original Nazi ban declaration, and an English translation.)This original article appeared in Guns and Ammo Magazine May 1993 Are you tired of being told that "gun control" is a chronic pain that you have to accept because there's no cure. Do you -- a law abiding person -- want to be free: to own whichever firearms you want to own, regardless of where in America you live; from waiting periods, gun bans, magazine capacity restrictions, etc.; to spend your time on the range or in the field, rather than fighting "gun control"?Are you tired of giving hard earned bucks to efforts that have at best only slowed the gun grabbers' push toward firearms registration and confiscation.

If you’ve reached my site because you are searching for sex tourism in the Gambia (and my site statistics tell me that a fair number of you are), I’m afraid you have come to the wrong place. However, please read on before you click-off. Sex tourism is a complex subject and the following represents my views, but I urge you to consider them in the hope that the lives of many, yourself included, can be improved by more thoughtful consideration of this issue. The Gambia is a small slither of land than carves up the greater mass of land that is Senegal in West Africa and to look at the tourist brochures you’d think it held little more than the innocence of virgin beaches.

It is organized as a republic and is governed using a decentralized approach. Sovereignty lies with the people, whose will is the basis of all authority, and it is exercised through public bodies using direct participatory forms of government as provided for by the Constitution. Nonrenewable natural resources of the State’s territory belong to its inalienable and absolute assets, which are not subject to a statute of limitations.Article 2. In General McMaster’s view, PowerPoint’s worst offense is not a chart like the spaghetti graphic, which was first uncovered by NBC’s Richard Engel, but rigid lists of bullet points (in, say, a presentation on a conflict’s causes) that take no account of interconnected political, economic and ethnic forces. “If you divorce war from all of that, it becomes a targeting exercise,” General McMaster said.Commanders say that behind all the PowerPoint jokes are serious concerns that the program stifles discussion, critical thinking and thoughtful decision-making. Not least, it ties up junior officers — referred to as PowerPoint Rangers — in the daily preparation of slides, be it for a Joint Staff meeting in or for a platoon leader’s pre-mission combat briefing in a remote pocket of Afghanistan.Last year when a military Web site, Company Command, asked an Army platoon leader in Iraq, Lt.

An uncontested divorce occurs when: (a) there are no disagreements between you and your spouse over any financial or divorce-related issues (i.e., child custody and support, division of marital property or spousal support); and (b) your spouse either agrees to the divorce, or fails to appear in the divorce action.  You may sue for divorce thinking that the proceeding will be uncontested, but discover later that your spouse has decided to contest ("fight") the case. If this occurs, you may wish to consult an attorney, or you may proceed on your own without an attorney.

Structures of the HeartThe heart pumps blood through the body with the help of structures such as ventricles, atria, and valves.Learning ObjectivesDiagram the anatomical structure of the heartKey TakeawaysKey PointsThe heart is divided into four chambers consisting of two atria and two ventricles; the atria receive blood, while the ventricles pump blood. The right atrium receives blood from the superior and inferior vena cavas and the coronary sinus; blood then moves to the right ventricle where it is pumped to the lungs. The lungs re-oxygenate the blood and send it to the left atrium.Blood moves from the left atrium to the left ventricle via the bicuspid valve; blood is pumped out of the left ventricle to the aorta, which sends blood to the organs and muscles of the body. The heart is composed of three layers: the epicardium (outer layer), the myocardium (middle layer), and the endocardium (inner layer).Key Termsaorta: the largest artery in the human body which carries the blood from the heart to all parts of the body except the lungsinferior vena cava: large vein that carries deoxygenated blood from the lower half of the body to the right atrium of the heartsuperior vena cava: large vein that carries deoxygenated blood from the upper half of the body to the right atrium of the heartStructure of the HeartThe heart is a complex muscle that pumps blood through the three divisions of the circulatory system: the coronary (vessels that serve the heart), pulmonary (heart and lungs), and systemic (systems of the body). Coronary circulation intrinsic to the heart takes blood directly from the main artery (aorta) coming from the heart. For pulmonary and systemic circulation, the heart has to pump blood to the lungs or the rest of the body, respectively. The heart muscle is asymmetrical as a result of the distance blood must travel in the pulmonary and systemic circuits.

All Rights ReservedHere's an all-too-common scenario: A senior in your life is becoming increasingly isolated, and you worry that he or she is lonely, but you're not sure what to do. It's not the easiest subject to bring up, especially when family members or loved ones are proud and don't want to admit they're feeling alone. But with roughly one of out of eight Americans now over 65 (nearly 47 million people as of 2015), loneliness and isolation are becoming hot-button issues for all of us. Consider these facts, from the Administration on Aging:Twenty-eight percent of Americans over 65 live alone; for women, it's a startling 46 percent.People over 65 have an average life expectancy of almost 20 more years. While 72 percent of men over 65 are married, only 45 percent of women are married; 37 percent are widows.Almost half of women over 75 live alone."We know that loneliness and isolation are prevalent among America’s older population and can have increasingly detrimental effects on mental, emotional and physical health," says Dr.
